Moving On

For many older persons-couples and singles-there comes a time to decide whether to remain in their own residence or move to a facility designed for seniors. Whether to move has many considerations: physical, economic, social, emotional, spiritual.

The authors of this website, Carlee and Howard Hallman, undertook this journey in their early eighties. Living in a single family home, they realized that it was time to consider moving to a continuing care retirement community. Previously Carlee, a retired United Methodist minister, had written a book of prayers, Abide with Me: Prayers for Life’s Eventide (Abington Press, 2006). She decided to write a new set of prayers reflecting the stages of deciding to move, picking a place to go, selling their house, and relocating to a new home. Along the way Howard added a few prayers, particularly to offer a masculine perspective.

These prayers are offered here for persons who are going through a similar journey and for persons who counsel them. Kindle & printed versions are available from Amazon.
